There is a huge mix of bird rich habitats which ensures wonderful birding opportunities. Moreover, our visit is timed to benefit from the Spring northern migration when the resident breeding species are supplemented by quality North European breeders on their way back.
The quality of such diverse bird rich habitats with waterfowl, seabirds, woodland birds, mountain birds, desert birds and migration in a relatively compact country is rarely matched elsewhere.
The bird species mirror the variety of habitats but they also reflect Morocco’s geographical position with many special endemics added to those species of Africa and Northern Europe.
Species include the rare and endangered Bald Ibis and apart from the "specials" mentioned overleaf, there are other larks such as Bar tailed and Temminck's Horned, plus Cream coloured Courser, Barbary Partridge, Pharoah Eagle Owl, Mourning Wheatear, Red-rumped Wheatear, Egyptian Nightjar, Houbara Bustard - the list goes on and on!!
The North European species we should encounter in addition to those noted earlier include Crested Coot, Cirl Buntings, Blue Rock Thrush, Bonelli’s Eagle, Southern Grey Shrike, Short tailed Lark. Warblers will be aplenty including Spectacled, Dartford, Orphean and Sardinian. Other raptors will include Golden Eagle, Lammergeier, Black Kite, and Black-shouldered Kite
